Expand Your Continuing Education Horizons

I started Mayday DNP in 2022 to help you cultivate your educational curiosity and ignite your mind.  As NPs (Nurse Practitioners) and PAs (Physician's Assistant/Associates), we must keep up with the latest in medical education to provide the best for patient care.  Back in 2015 when I changed specialities as an nurse practitioner from cardiology, to hospital medicine, then the most daunting switch to the emergency department (ED), I found myself looking for more curated continuing education (CE) credits to help prepare for the change in specialty.  This is why I’m here—to encourage you to keep asking questions and learn something new everyday, in an impactful way.

about me

I'm a Family Nurse Practitioner, Board Certified since 2011 (ANCC).  I have worked through different specialities since then.  Briefly, I started in cardiology and was devouring ECG continuing education courses.  I had experience as both a telemetry unit nurse and emergency department nurse so, I could read rhythm strips and knew ACLS pretty well.  But, starting out in a specialty like cardiology, whew!  Then I moved and landed a job in hospital medicine and wanted to learn more about ECGs, looking at chest x-rays, and wanted a refresher on treatment plans.  Then came the most difficult transition, back into the emergency department since 2015 where I would have to perform procedures that I had not done since that one class in NP school.  I went from the most atrocious practitioner to suture to one of the most skilled.  I know this because when I left the first ED to go to another hospital system, my supervising physician loved to recount how horrible I was but that he would now want me to suture him if he needed it (what?!?).  So I hope to develop accessible courses online where you can pace yourself, have the option to book a small group or one-on-one session with me whether live or in person, earn CE accredited via AANP and provide resources (free) via blog posts.
